Hold the weight, train the process

These are lessons that have been learned. Here are 3 more.

1. You won’t remember how good you can do today. You’ve decided to do this workout with a goal of 10 reps. When you reach 10, you’ll stop, sit down, and go review it. Instead of recalling the last 10, you’ll wonder how you can possibly complete 10 in the future. Why do you have to stop doing skips, and look back? Because you’ll remember that for one minute you’re “with the jump rope.” But that’s not how you’re going to remember this workout for the rest of your life.

2. A good workout is one that has some form of reward. What if you did the workout with the intention that it would help you to make the decision to do rope jumping? Or that it would result in losing weight? Or that if you’re trying to lose weight that your workout will help you to burn as many calories as possible? If you do a great workout, then you should feel good about it. This means you’ll feel good when you finish it and start the next one. And you won’t feel like you just did an exercise routine.

3. You don’t have to be perfect to get better. If you’re doing an exercise routine, and you’re getting to the end of your workout, and you’re ready to stop, you’re going to make some mistakes. Most of these won’t be of much importance in the grand scale of thing not matter at all.
