FreeSecurity

Wikipedia needs your help! Click here to know why!

FreeSecurity is an easy to use freeware application that allows you to use encryption to secure your files and safeguard your privacy. FreeSecurity uses strong 128-bit AES encryption (also known as Rijndael), the next generation US Goverment standard for protection of classified information (according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, it would take about 149 trillion years to break an AES key using usual methods) which offers a great level of protection to your files. Additionally, it offers file compression on the encrypted files. You can, for example, keep it in your USB storage device and use it to compress files when you lack space or to encrypt the files to keep their content private.
FreeSecurity is listed and well rated on major download sites and has over 2000 downloads on Download.com alone. You can read user opinions here and see a screenshot here.

FreeSecurity is completely free for personal use, doesn't contain any spyware and doesn't require any registration or other annoying process. However, it cannot be used on illegal activities (you should read the license agreement before using the application).

Although FreeSecurity is free, I'd appreciate it if you'd donate (click the PayPal button on the left, you don't need a PayPal account) if you like the program and find it useful. Click here to bookmark FreeSecurity on del.icio.us.

FreeSecurity is developed in Java and requires only that your operating system has Java 1.4 or above installed (you probably have it already: click here to check or click here to download). It was designed to work on all major operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, Linux or Solaris.
FreeSecurity is made in Portugal by Joćo Gomes.
